Definition

HYROX® Doubles weight standards are the station loads, distances, and rep counts used by two-person teams competing in the Doubles format. The key principle: Doubles teams use the exact same weights as singles athletes in their division. There is no reduction or increase in load.

How It Works

In HYROX® Doubles, two athletes race together, alternating who completes each station. While one partner works a station, the other runs. Partners must start each running segment together and alternate stations in a fixed pattern. The station weights, distances, and rep counts are identical to singles, meaning each partner handles the full load at their assigned stations.

Mixed Doubles teams use the men's weight for the male partner's stations and women's weight for the female partner's stations.

Why It Matters

A common misconception is that Doubles weights are lighter because two people share the work. They are not. Each individual station is completed by one partner at the full singles weight. The advantage in Doubles is recovery time - while your partner works a station, you rest or run. Strategy revolves around assigning stations to the partner better suited for each one.

Tips & Strategy

  • Assign stations to strengths. If one partner is a stronger runner and the other excels at sled work, split stations accordingly.
  • Train at full singles weight. Each partner must handle the complete load, so both should train to singles standards.
  • Synchronise running pace. Partners must start running segments together - practise matching pace to avoid one partner waiting.
  • Communicate transitions. Agree on signals for when the working partner is nearly finished so the running partner is ready.

FAQ

Are Doubles weights lighter than singles? No. Doubles teams use identical weights to singles athletes in the same division. The load per station is not reduced.

Do Mixed Doubles teams use the same weight? In Mixed Doubles, the male partner's stations use men's weights and the female partner's stations use women's weights.

Can partners share a station in Doubles? No. Only one partner completes each station. Partners alternate and cannot assist each other during a station.
